Dhamma Teaching of Khun Yai Acharaya: First, Attain Your Own Deliverance
We are like little chicks,
still unable to escape the claws of the hawk.
First, we must focus on liberating ourselves,
before thinking of guiding or worrying about others.
When I (Khun Yai) left home,
I never looked back or longed to return.
I never went back — only once,
to cremate my mother after her passing.
Upon returning home,
I gave away all my possessions to others:
Fifteen rai of rice fields to my younger sister
who cared for our mother,
and twenty rai to my younger brother, a monk,
so he wouldn’t face hardship in life.
