Dhamma Reflection on Practice 3 : Body and Mind as One

The Great Mara trembles with fear when the body and mind become one. He fears it deeply and thus uses every possible means to separate the two—sending the mind one way and the body another. He tries to let the mind drift aimlessly, caught up in things that are empty, meaningless, and without true essence.

Mara is deeply afraid of those whose body and mind are in perfect unity.
Train to harmonize the body and mind until the mind is fully anchored within—completely present and aware.
Where the mind goes, the body follows.
This reveals that the mind has reached a refined and powerful state.

But now, our mind goes one way while the body stays here.
The mind drifts elsewhere, and the body remains still—
they move in different directions, disconnected and out of harmony.

Observe and try this:

When the mind stays with the body, there is happiness.
When the mind is not with the body, there is suffering.

Bring your mind back to your body
just keep it around there.
When the conditions are right,
it will naturally settle in the correct position
the position that Māra fears,
the position that startles the evil one.

All of this depends entirely on stopping and stillness.
As conveyed in the upcoming chant,
everything has already been said
it is all a part of the principles of the inner knowledge.
There is nothing beyond this.
Not a single step deviates from this truth.
